"Phoenix is a tremendous market and Del Taco has already received a great reception," said C. Ronald Petty, president of Del Taco and a Scottsdale resident.

Petty was named president of the 35-year-old quick service chain six months ago to lead the company's national growth plans. Formerly the head of Burger King and Denny's, Petty recently revitalized the Scottsdale-based Peter Piper's Pizza. Petty's experience in the Phoenix market made this a natural expansion choice. "Del Taco is a terrific concept with great tasting food," said Arizona Del president Darrell McAfee. "We look forward to serving up this great taste to Phoenix area residents."

Del Taco restaurants offer the most complete quick-service menu available, including tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tostadas, burgers, french fries and a breakfast menu including quesadillas and burritos. Menu selection is heavy on value and ranges from more than a dozen items under $1 to Del Taco's popular Macho Burrito, which contains more than a pound of food.

In a pre-opening event on May 12, Gilbert Mayor Cynthia Dunham will formally welcome Del Taco to the city with an official ribbon cutting ceremony A ribbon cutting ceremony is a public ceremony conducted to inaugurate the opening to the general public of a new building or business.
