Eugene band Deke Falcon may not be headliners in its final gig, but Magnolia Electric Co. is one of the band's favorite national acts.

At least that's what bass player Dave Clark said about the headlining band that's touring with Ladyhawk. To show its devotion, Deke Falcon even has Magnolia Electric Co. as its No. 1 friend on Myspace.com.

The Wednesday gig will mark the end of the almost 3-year-old Deke Falcon. Clark already has moved to Portland to attend art school, and drummer Jordan Glenn is moving to Oakland, Calif., to pursue a graduate degree at Mills College Mills College, at Oakland, Calif.; for women; est. 1852 as the Young Ladies' Seminary at Benicia, Calif., moved 1871, chartered as Mills College 1885. "Our band name arose by accident," lead singer and guitar player Patrick Hayden writes in the band bio. "The story behind it is not particularly funny or poignant, so I won't bother spilling it.

`What matters is that we've gained, I think, from engaging what started as an empty concept and playing with the ideas of Deke Falcon as person, presence, absence, ethos e·thos

, rock band, etc."

Deke Falcon plays alternative country, clever songs that don't go light on irony. Some of the influences the band lists on myspace.com/dekefalcon are the Band, Sonic Youth, 1970s rock, '60s soul and Wilco.

With a steady band and a band name since 2003, the Wednesday show represents this new era for Molina, one in which he is also releasing solo material under his own name.

The new band materialized after Molina moved to Bloomington, Ind., and found Pete Schreiner, Jason Groth, Mark Rice and Mike Kapinus. The latest release is "What Comes After the Blues," which is similar to the later "Songs: Ohia" material, according to according to

"This is not indie rock Indie rock is a genre of alternative rock that primarily exists in the independent underground music scene. The term is sometimes used interchangeably with underground music as a whole, though more specifically implicates that the music meets the criterion of being rock, as  anymore," the release says. "Magnolia Electric Co. have made an ... album that is both rocking and full of life. It's a fist pumper and manages to hit great depths of beauty as well."

A new recording, "Fading Trails," is due out in September. As a solo artist, Molina will release up to six CDs this year, according to Tiny Mix Tapes.
