Dejour Completes Historical Exploration Data for the Maybelle and Gartner Uranium Properties in the Athabasca Basin.VANCOUVER, British Columbia British Columbia, province (2001 pop. 3,907,738), 366,255 sq mi (948,600 sq km), including 6,976 sq mi (18,068 sq km) of water surface, W Canada. Geography -- Dejour Enterprises Ltd. (TSX TSX Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE before April, 2002) TSX Transfer from Stack Pointer to Index TSX True Space Extension VENTURE:DJE) J Allan McNutt, Manager of Mineral Exploration and Qualified Person for this project, reports that a review of historical exploration data from the Saskatchewan government files has been completed for two of Dejour's key uranium properties- Maybelle and Gartner- in the western Athabasca Basin The Athabasca Basin is a region of Northern Saskatchewan and Alberta Canada that is best known as the world's leading source of uranium. It currently supplies about 30% of the world's uranium. The basin is located just to the south of Lake Athabasca. . Dejour is encouraged by the results of these surveys as they suggest the properties are underlain un·der·lain v. Past participle of underlie. by geology considered favorable for uranium mineralization Mineralization The process by which the body uses minerals to build bone structure. Mentioned in: Rickets mineralization, n the bioprecipitation of an inorganic substance. . These two properties essentially surround claims blocks that were the subject of an exploratory drilling program by Cameco in the 1st quarter 2005. The Maybelle property consists of three Saskatchewan claims along the Alberta border (16,473 hectares, 40,705 acres), and is located 65 km SW of the former Cluff Lake uranium mine. Exploration from 1978 to 1980 consisted of airborne electromagnetic, magnetic and radiometric surveys. It should be noted that the electromagnetic system used at that time was not powerful enough to penetrate the 100m to 600m of Athabasca sandstone sandstone, sedimentary rock formed by the cementing together of grains of sand. The usual cementing material in sandstone is calcium carbonate, iron oxides, or silica, and the hardness of sandstone varies according to the character of the cementing material; quartz on the property. These surveys did not outline any anomalies of interest and the property was allowed to lapse. However, the magnetic data suggests the property is underlain by basement metasedimentary rocks which may contain graphitic horizons, and is thus prospective for uranium mineralization. Dejour is planning an airborne geophysical survey Geophysical survey refers to the systematic collection of geophysical data for spatial studies. Geophysical surveys may use a great variety of sensing instruments, and data may be collected from above or below the Earth's surface or from aerial or marine platforms. using a deep penetrating system to test for graphitic conductors with which uranium mineralization is often associated. The Gartner property consists of 5 claims (24,157 hectares, 59,692 acres) and is located 15 km east of the Maybelle property. Exploration from 1978 to 1980 consisted of airborne geophysical surveys which did not locate any anomalies and no followup work was done. In 1991 a GEOTEM electromagnetic and magnetic survey was flown which covers the majority of Dejour's property. It located one weak electromagnetic conductor on the east side of the project and a series of weak to strong anomalies just west of the western boundary of the Gartner claims which appear to trend on to Dejour's claims. These electromagnetic anomalies may be due to basement graphitic horizons. Dejour is planning a deep penetrating geophysical survey to better define the known conductors and also to cover the deeper parts of the property which may not have adequately tested by the GEOTEM survey.
