Dejima Training and New Development Tools Change the Rules for Designing Improved User Interfaces; Dejima Opens University and Releases Natural Language Development Tools.Business Editors, Technology Writers SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 8, 2000 Dejima Inc., a software infrastructure company, opened Dejima University to provide training on Dejima's Agent Technology (DAT (1) (Dynamic Address Translator) A hardware circuit that converts a virtual memory address into a real address. See also DAT file. (2) (Digital Audio Tape) A magnetic tape technology used for backing up data. ) 2.0 and Dejima Natural Language Interface Software Development Kit (NLI (1) (Natural Language Interface) An English language interface for database queries. Using inference engines, combined with database interfaces and other tools, an NLI system lets anyone access database information without the need for traditional query tools SDK (Software Developer's Kit) See developer's toolkit and Windows SDK. SDK - Software Developers Kit (or "Software Development Kit"). ) 1.0. The DAT 2.0 collaborative agent environment accurately interprets and responds to natural language user requests. Dejima U. training and the NLI SDK allow DAT 2.0 programmers to, in less time, build globalized natural language interfaces that in the past could only be built with the help of linguists. Dejima's rapidly expanding systems integrator channel will let DAT support the demand of the expanding market for natural language user interfaces. "The new NLI SDK allows licensees and systems integrators to build applications by visually drawing the connections between the collaborating agents in the hyperstructure. Dejima U. training cuts the programmers learning time even more. This minimizes the task of creating and developing agent-based applications on a broad array of products. The same graphical environment shows developers how the agent hyperstructure is working and helps them optimize performance to get the best responses to input queries and commands," says Dejima's CTO (Chief Technical Officer) The executive responsible for the technical direction of an organization. See CIO and salary survey. Babak Hodjat. Dejima University Dejima University was created to train Dejima's licensees and systems integrators on DAT and Dejima's NLI SDK. Two types of classes are offered. The first trains existing users of earlier releases of DAT on the NLI SDK and on enhancements made in Release 2.0 of DAT. The second type of class for programmers from systems integrators and recent licensees will train on DAT methodologies and the NLI SDK. Dejima U. classes provide lecture, lab, and state-of-the-art computer based learning. Classes begin Sept. 11. Dejima NLI SDK 1.0 Dejima NLI SDK is Dejima's development tool environment. Dejima created the Dejima NLI SDK to reduce the effort required to develop natural language interfaces using DAT. The NLI SDK gives developers a visual development environment similar to that of other development tools. The NLI SDK provides tools that cover key activities needed to create natural language interfaces; from scenario definition to interface performance optimization. The Agent Network Builder, the centerpiece of the NLI SDK, helps programmers see what they are doing as they create and optimize the agent hyperstructures used to understand and interpret user requests and commands. About Dejima Dejima was formed to enable leading content companies, hardware device manufacturers and service providers to develop products and services that allow intuitive, flexible and direct end-user interaction. Unlike speech and legacy natural language companies, Dejima provides a global, highly portable grammar and language independent software engineering platform.
