Degussa's business unit Care & Surface Specialties consists of the business lines Personal Care, Household Care, STOKO[R] Skin Care as well as the business lines Polyurethane Additives and Industrial Specialties.

The product range includes mild surfactants, fatty acid derivatives, organic silicones as well as active oxygen compounds as detergent raw materials. Its outstanding core competence is its comprehensive knowledge of the processes of interfacial chemistry. On this basis, the business unit supplies its customers with tailor-made products and system solutions that are at the forefront of technology, for a variety of applications in the fast moving consumer goods markets.

MAJOR MARKETS AND PRODUCTS: Personal Care: This business line is a leading supplier and innovative partner for the cosmetics industry. With a technology platform based on organic specialties, silicones and active ingredients, Personal Care provides high-quality ingredients for skin and hair care, sun care, AP/deo and decorative cosmetics. Prominent product examples are skin-identical ceramides, ultra-pure creatine, titanium dioxide powders and dispersions, sugar-based emulsifiers, polyglycerin-based emulsifiers, enzymatically produced emollients, high performance organomodified silicones as emulsifiers, waxes and conditioning agents and mild amphoterics.

Household Care: In 2007, Degussa's Care & Surface Specialties business unit has pooled the activities of the Home Care und Textile Care Product Lines into a new Household Care business line, thus offering its customers more rapid and cost-efficient solutions. The new Household Care business line boasts a comprehensive product range of specialty raw materials and system solutions for the cleaning and care of textiles, and for household products, car care products, and the industrial and institutional sector. The products include specialty surfactants, polishes, silicone compounds, and emulsifiers, as well as bleaching agents and fabric softeners.
