Degussa, Wellink Group agree to produce silica.


Degussa AG, Dusseldorf, Germany Germany (jûr`mənē), Ger. Deutschland, officially Federal Republic of Germany, republic (2005 est. pop. 82,431,000), 137,699 sq mi (356,733 sq km). , and Fujian Fujian (f`jēĕn`) or Fukien (f`kēĕn`), province (1994 est. pop.  Nanping Nanping (nän`pĭng`) or Yanping (yän`–), city (1994 est. pop. 211,700), N central Fujian prov., China, on the upper Min River.  Xinyuan Investment Ltd. (Wellink Group), Nanping, Fujian, China, have signed an agreement to establish a joint venture for manufacturing and marketing performance silica silica or silicon dioxide, chemical compound, SiO2. It is insoluble in water, slightly soluble in alkalies, and soluble in dilute hydrofluoric acid. Pure silica is colorless to white.  (precipitated silica and silicates). After final approval by the relevant authorities, the joint venture will begin trading as Degussa Wellink Silica (Nanping) Ltd. Degussa will hold 60% in the joint venture, while Xinyuan, the company in which Wellink has pooled its silica activities, will hold 40%.
