, has deployed Defywire's Mobile Guardian system for accessing and logging student information over wireless devices. The first application of the Mobile Guardian platform allows McKinley administrative personnel to access student disciplinary information over Wi-Fi-enabled PDAs. Mobile Guardian can also give school officials access to students' attendance records, class schedules, medical information, and parent contact information.

"Prior to deploying Defywire's Mobile Guardian, we were only able to access student information on desktop systems, which isn't helpful to school personnel that are monitoring school grounds," explained Daniel Gohl, principal of McKinley Technology High School. "Now we have an application that roams wherever our personnel and students are. This has greatly enhanced our ability to secure the school and significantly cuts down staff hours spent completing paperwork associated with disciplinary incidents."

Defywire's Mobile Guardian implementation spanned less than two weeks, and required minimal training for the school's administrative staff. Positive results were immediately realized by the high school, which found that the disciplinary incident reporting application eliminated an average of two hours of paperwork per day, freeing up administrative personnel to stay in the field. The real-time nature of the incident reporting application also created accurate, uniform and instantaneous documentation of incidents, which has become extremely critical for complying with federal No Child Left Behind guidelines guidelines,

"Students are better protected when school personnel and parents are better informed," said Jill Stelfox, Chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "Mobile Guardian gives school personnel the ability to securely and immediately access critical information about a student's schedule, medical requirements, attendance, and disciplinary issues, wherever that information is needed most."

Mobile Guardian even gives schools the ability to automatically alert a parent with an SMS-enabled phone when their child is not in class, although that service is not yet being deployed at McKinley Technology High School. Ultimately, the system's ability to keep school personnel and parents better informed, makes for a safer educational environment.
