Defense contracts awarded: these contracts worth more than $5 million were awarded to small businesses.

NAVY

Boston Dynamics Inc., Waltham, MA, is being awarded a $10,000,000 completion-type, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for research and development services to construct a dog-like robot with the capability to run fast, traverse trough terrain, jump over obstacles one meter tall or two meters wide, and operate for two hours without refueling. The goal of this effort is to create legged robots that mimic animal structure, mechanics and control to achieve animal-like strength, speed and mobility. This 15-month contract includes three one-year options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative potential value of this contract to $40,000,000. This contract is being awarded under a Defense Advance Research Projects Agency (DARPA DARPA: see Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

ViaSat, Carlsbad, CA, was awarded a $44,949,228 firm-fixed-price delivery order under previously awarded contract (N00039-00D-2101) for Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Low Volume Terminals (MIDS-LVTs). The MIDS-LVT MIDS-LVT Multifunctional Information Distribution System - Low Volume Terminal  provides secure, high capacity, jam resistant, digital data and voice communications capability for U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army platforms. This delivery order was competitively procured with two proposals solicited and two offers received via the Space and Naval Warfare E-commerce web site. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, San Diego, is the contracting activity.

Coherent, Doylestown, PA, is being awarded a $48,522,901 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for the design, manufacture, installation, and repair of Navy Special Projects Systems associated with the Electro-Optic and Special Mission Sensors Program. This effort will include focus on the research, development, analysis, and prototyping of a family of systems that result in a C41SR system architecture. This contract was not competitively procured. The Naval Air Warfare Center The Naval Air Warfare Center was a former U.S. Navy military installation located in Warminster, Pennsylvania and Ivyland, Pennsylvania.

The U.S. Navy purchased the grounds to establish this facility from the Brewster Aeronautical Corporation following its bankruptcy in the
 Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, NJ, is the contracting activity (N68335-07-R0150).

 Constructors Inc., Carlsbad, CA, is being awarded $16,233,070 for firm-fixed price Task Order #0015 under previously awarded indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity multiple award construction contract (N68711-04-D5110) to repair and/or replace approximately 300 sewer pipelines at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton is the major West Coast base of the United States Marine Corps and serves as its prime amphibious training base.[1] It is located in Southern California between the cities of Oceanside and San Clemente. . The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southwest, San Diego, is the contracting activity.
