Defense Logistics Agency Modernizes and Extends Mainframe App with Micro Focus and IAI; Critical Distribution Standard System to be Web-Enabled.

ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Micro Focus(R) (LSE:MCRO) and its partner Information Analysis Incorporated (IAI; OTC: IAIC) today announced that the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), part of the U.S. Department of Defense, will be modernizing its critical mainframe-based Distribution Standard System (DSS) using Micro Focus' Leverage and Extend solution for legacy modernization and services provided by IAI. When completed, DSS will be completely web-enabled, allowing for secure Internet access to DSS from over 11,000 users worldwide with increased user productivity associated with a browser-based interface.

DSS is composed of thousands of CICS COBOL transactions running on several large IBM mainframes. The application manages logistics for twenty-six distribution centers around the world.

Using legacy extension technology from Micro Focus, implemented through its partner IAI, DLA will no longer rely on rigid green-screen procedures to distribute, track and process supplies to military units located around the world. The current interface provides limited services with no access from the web for DSS users.
