(IED) Forensics Tool. The development is currently underway, with fielding of the new tool anticipated in Spring 2005.

This tool is to be embodied as an add-on module to the Chemical Biological Response Aide (CoBRA(R)) software, an existing commercial application developed by DGI, which will meet the needs of bomb squads and crime scene investigators dealing with improvised devices of various types. The IED Forensics Tool will provide a quick and efficient way to identify the possible purpose for chemicals, components, and equipment discovered on a crime scene or incident location. It will be user friendly, and will provide a prioritized assessment of the possible "products" that the observed components could produce. Additional subtasks under this contract will incorporate data interfaces with handheld radiation detectors and with cutting edge digital X-ray systems. DGI will also develop requirements for new tools to support the mission of Urban Search and Rescue The examples and perspective in this article or section may not represent a worldwide view of the subject.
