To be clear, the purpose of the award is to recognize those who have demonstrated exemplary achievements in the field of bioethics--not to find prolife philosophers who think exactly as Ramsey did. Kaveny acknowledges Ramsey as "firmly prolife" and "a pioneer in the field of bioethics."
