Can technology and education ever create a synergy The enhanced result of two or more people, groups or organizations working together. In other words, one and one equals three! It comes from the Greek "synergia," which means joint work and cooperative action.  that is more than the sum of the parts? Van B, Weigel believes so, and he calls the result "deep learning," a learning situation that uses "communities of inquiry" to increase understanding of material. Although the book may be limited by its heavy use of IBM/Lotus QuickPlace software for its examples of how to create these communities in cyberspace Coined by William Gibson in his 1984 novel "Neuromancer," it is a futuristic computer network that people use by plugging their minds into it!
