Dedicated Internet Access Charges Can Vary by More Than 700 Percent Between Carriers, According to New Price Index Released by Global Internetworking.

MCLEAN, Va. -- Dedicated Internet Access port and local loop costs can vary more than 700 percent , according to the IP Access Price Index, a new report released today by Global Internetworking (GII), a telecommunications services integrator and network solutions provider based near Washington, D.C. The IP Access Price Index provides a snap-shot survey of dedicated Internet access costs and speeds for various U.S. locations based on data generated from Global's on-line, real-time pricing tool and quote Pop2Pop(R) management system.

According to the new Index, Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) in Newark, New Jersey at the DS3 rate of 45 Mbps (Megabits per Second) can vary between $2,340 per month and $17,069, a price difference of more than 700 percent. Similarly, pricing in Washington, D.C., for 45 Mbps dedicated access can vary by up to 200 percent, ranging between $6,350 and $12,321. In Redmond, Washington, the prices range from $5,461 to nearly three times higher at $16,210.

In addition to DS3 service, the index shows DIA pricing for DS1 (1.54 Mbps) and OC-3 (145 Mbps) service. Index pricing includes IP port access and local loop costs as well as monthly recurring and one-time non recurring charges.

The new IP Access Price Index shows the spread between the lowest and highest prices for IP access requirements serving various markets based on data from different provider networks. The new service is complementary to GII's Private Line Price Index (PLPX), which provides a snap-shot of private line price points based on network data from hundreds of carriers as generated from GII's Pop2Pop real-time pricing tool and quote management system.
