Decisions be taken inside parliament rather than taking dictation from the IMF, WB: Ch Nisar Ali Khan.

ISLAMABAD, June 26, 2009 (Balochistan Times) -- Opposition leader in National Assembly (NA) Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said decisions be taken inside parliament rather than taking dictation from World Bank (WB) and International Monetary Fund (IMF). Chaudhry Nisar was addressing NA session here Friday. He held opposition had participated in budget debate in democratic manner. Opposition would monitor implementation process of budget. We will hold the responsible persons accountable if the budget is not implemented in true perspective, he warned. NA calendar was not being pursued, he regretted. All the decisions should be taken inside the house, he stressed. I am not talking of point scoring, he underlined. The security and economic situation in the country was miserable. Dictation be not taken from IMF and WB. People would not come on the roads if decisions were taken in the house, he maintained. I dont accept 20 percent raise in the perks and privileges of the parliamentarians. The raise made in the salaries of the parliamentarians be donated to the funds set up for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), he demanded. Minister for parliamentary affairs Babar Awan said, I acknowledge parliamentary calendar has been violated. I assure this would not be repeated in the future. I will have no objection if the raise made in the salaries is transferred to IDPs fund but a consensus among all the parties on this issue is essential, he stressed. Parliament would not remain restricted to the passage of budget only but its implementation would also be monitored, he remarked. All the employees of senate and national assembly would be paid one month pay as honoraria, he announced.
