Debut for National Network for Pulp and Paper Technology Training.The "National Network for Pulp and Paper Technology Training", will be led through Alabama Southern Community College (ASCC) in Thomasville, Alabama. This industry-education-government collaboration is unprecedented in the U.S., and comes in response to a critical need for a globally competitive workforce in the United States pulp and paper industry The global pulp and paper industry is dominated by North American (United States, Canada), northern European (Finland, Sweden) and East Asian countries (such as Japan). Australasia and Latin America also have significant pulp and paper industries. . [ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] Under the auspices of the Agenda 2020 Technologically Advanced Workforce (TAW) initiative, the National Network for Pulp and Paper Technology Training will build on the success of the 2-year Associate Degree program in Paper and Chemical Technology at ASCC. Working in close collaboration with local industry, Auburn University, the Alabama Technology Network (ATN ATN Acute tubular necrosis, see there ), with support from the National Science Foundation (NSF), ASCC has created one of the nation's leading training centers for paper and chemical workers. Industry scholarships and internships, and a state-of-the-art manufacturing laboratory have produced graduates of the 2-year associate degree program ready to make a difference in the pulp, paper and chemical industries. The initial partners of the National Network are Auburn University, Mid-State Technical College Mid-State Technical College (also MSTC) is a technical (community) college in central Wisconsin. It has major campuses in the Marshfield, Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids communities.
