NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 21, 1995--Philip Morris Companies Inc. recently announced the appointment of Deborah A. Becker as vice president, environmental policy, worldwide regulatory affairs Regulatory Affairs (RA), also called Government Affairs, is a profession within regulated industries, such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, energy, and banking. Regulatory Affairs professionals usually have responsibility for the following general areas:

Becker will be responsible for developing policies, strategies, and action plans that address environmental issues for the corporation. In this newly established position, Becker will report directly to Marc S. Firestone, senior vice president, worldwide regulatory affairs and associate general counsel.

In her previous position, Becker was vice president, environmental policy for Kraft Foods Kraft Foods Inc. (NYSE: KFT) is the largest food and beverage company headquartered in North America and the second largest in the world after NestlĂ© SA.

The Philip Morris Company (now known as Altria Group), a company that produces tobacco products, acquired Kraft for
, Inc. She was responsible for shaping the company's policies with regard to environmental issues in the company's food business.

Becker joined Kraft in 1986 as a research scientist and over the following few years held a variety of technical research posts. She was named director, scientific relations in 1990.

Prior to joining Kraft, Becker held research positions at Armour Foods Inc., from 1973 to 1975; Libby-Nestle Inc., from 1975 to 1983; and Sara Lee
