Dear readers.

The Presidential and National Assembly elections as well as the Regional Authority elections are fast approaching, and the time is now to study the party candidate lists and manifestos for what they promise to women. As we go to print the manifestos of most parties were not yet available for analysis. However, we have calculated the percentages of women on the party candidate lists for the National Assembly elections as follows:
Party  All candidates  Top ten candidates

UDF    53.3% women     6 women
CoD    42.3% women     4 women
RP     36% women       2 women
MAG    34.7% women     1 woman
DTA    33.3% women     3 women
NMDC   32% women       2 women
NUDO   31% women       3 women
Swanu  25% women       1 woman
Swapo  23.6% women     1 woman
