Dear MIRIAM: LUST WORDS.

Byline: Dr. MIRIAM STOPPARD Noun 1. Stoppard - British dramatist (born in Czechoslovakia in 1937)
Sir Tom Stoppard, Thomas Straussler, Tom Stoppard

Dear Miriam MY boyfriend of 10 months has never told me he loves me. I don't know what to do because our relationship is awesome, but I would give anything to just hear those three little words.

He's shown he loves me in virtually every way but I need him to say it to feel secure, settled and happy.

Is this something I should be concerned about? How do I get him to make my day?

THE L word doesn't always trip off the tongue easily - especially for males.

They can feel awkward, uncomfortable, or even scared at the thought of it.

Maybe he grew up in a family that discouraged dis·cour·age
tr.v. dis·cour·aged, dis·cour·ag·ing, dis·cour·ag·es
1. To deprive of confidence, hope, or spirit.

2. To hamper by discouraging; deter.

3.
the direct expression of love. Or maybe he declared his love to a woman in the past and she ended up rejecting him.

If he's showing you in every other way that he loves you, it's not a huge thing. If you tell him on a regular basis that you love him, I think he'll loosen up and feel more comfortable telling you the same.

If you're sure of his love and devotion Devotion may refer to:
  • Edward Devotion School, a public school in Brookline, Massachusetts.
  • Bible study (Christian), devotion within Christianity
  • Catholic devotions, devotion within Catholicism
  • Bhakti, devotion within Hinduism
, just give it a little time and ease him into it.
