DEEP PERIL The story about Martin Richardson being saved from a shark attack by dolphins was marvellous (Daily Mirror, July 26).

But in Scotland, harbour porpoises are under threat because the Government has allowed the reintroduction of wide-mesh fishing nets.

We should start taking conservation of these mammals seriously and prohibit use of dolphin-deadly nets.

Smoking out truth

Since the number of smokers has decreased in the past 30 years does that mean that the number of cot deaths has fallen proportionately?

And why do non-smoking parents suffer the agony of losing babies?

I believe cigarettes are a small part of a larger pollution problem for the world.

Returning from a trip to the coast we came across a roadside kiosk selling strawberries and decided to stop and buy some.
