Crossbow Technology, Inc. today announced that Dean Johnson has joined the company in the position of Vice President, Inertial Systems. With over 20 years experience, Johnson will lead the company's inertial systems business, which combines the latest in silicon micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical Systems) Tiny mechanical devices that are built onto semiconductor chips and are measured in micrometers. Managing a group of over 200 people, Johnson was responsible for the growth, operation, and profit/loss for a product group that included tactical-grade, solid-state inertial measurement units, including the HG1700. From 1996 to 1997, Johnson was production manager for Honeywell Military Avionics, where he turned around a challenging product-manufacturing situation. From 1994 to 1996, he was senior program manager at Honeywell Military avionics, responsible for the ring laser gyro product engineering. From 1988 to 1994, he held several positions at the Honeywell Systems and Research Center.

Johnson has a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota (body, education) University of Minnesota - The home of Gopher.
