Deadlines set for NEPF and APEX newsletter competitions.April 1, 2001 is the deadline for the 22nd annual Newsletter Journalism Awards competition sponsored by the Newsletter & Electronic Publishers Foundation. Designed to recognize "excellence in subscription newsletter journalism," the competition awards prizes in seven categories: * Best Spot-News or Exclusive Single-News Story * Best Investigative Reporting An investigative report is a document that is meant to provide information on a certain topic that is not easily obtained. It is meant to present the reader with a wealth of easily understood information and usually contains an interview or two on the subject. * Best Interpretive in·ter·pre·tive also in·ter·pre·ta·tive adj. Relating to or marked by interpretation; explanatory. in·ter pre·tive·ly adv. or Analytical analytical, analyticpertaining to or emanating from analysis. analytical control control of confounding by analysis of the results of a trial or test. Reporting * Best Instructional Reporting * Best Financial-Advisory Newsletter * Best Single-Topic Newsletter * Best Looseleaf loose´leaf` adj. 1. having rings that open and close permitting insertion and removal of pages; - of notebooks and binders and the paper used in them; as, a looseleaf notebook; Publication. Within each category, a first, second and third place winner may be chosen. The David Swit Journalism Prize of $500 will be awarded to each first place winner. In addition, the judges may award honorable mentions. Entrants do not need to be members of the Newsletter & Electronic Publishers Association; however, they must be for-profit newsletters.
