Now its time for local critics - Register-Guard readers - to weigh in via our virtual book club.

Each month, we pick a local book group and allow our readers to vicariously vi·car·i·ous

In November, we invite you to read "The Kite Runner" with a still-unnamed Cottage Grove Cottage Grove, village (1990 pop. 22,935), Washington co., SE Minn., near the St. Croix River; inc. 1965. There is farming (cattle, sheep, corn, and soybeans) and manufacturing (chemicals and machinery).  book club. The 10-year-old group has more than 20 members and meets in private homes. The Register-Guard will collect and forward our readers' comments to the group to include in their discussion.

On the second Sunday of December, we will publish a sampling of comments on the book from our readers and from the book club's own discussion.

Armchair participants may e-mail a one-paragraph comment to kmccowan@guardnet.com by 5 p.m. Tuesday for inclusion in the Cottage Grove group's meeting that evening - though comments will continue to be accepted through 5 p.m. Nov. 30 for inclusion in our Dec. 11 wrapup on ``The Kite Runner.''
