DeLorme Announces Two New Breakthrough GPS Devices.

Earthmate(R) LT-20

DeLorme pioneered the laptop GPS concept and continues its leadership position with the Earthmate LT-20. This new high-sensitivity device turns any laptop PC into a powerful GPS navigator. The new $99.95 everyday low price, coupled with the rapid growth in sales of inexpensive yet powerful laptop PCs, will undoubtedly expand this GPS market segment.

The included Street Atlas USA 2005 software has been designed for in-vehicle GPS navigation See GPS. , with innovative features including voice prompts A recorded message that is played by auto attendants, interactive voice response (IVR) systems, message-on-hold systems and other voice processing tools. The "prompt" is a request to input some data; a recording that does not ask for feedback is more properly called a voice "message." , automatic back-on-track re-routing; screen settings for reducing in-vehicle glare; and large fonts and arrows to show upcoming turns.

The Earthmate GPS LT-20 uses ST Microelectronics and SiGE Semiconductor chips, integrated with DeLorme software and firmware A category of memory chips that hold their content without electrical power. Firmware includes flash, ROM, PROM, EPROM and EEPROM technologies. When holding program instructions, firmware can be thought of as "hard software." The Earthmate GPS PN-20 is compact and ruggedly built to withstand weather and the rigors of outdoors. It has large buttons for ease of use, and a high volume 10,000 data point capacity.

The Earthmate GPS PN-20 will have a target retail price of $199.95 for the device and included world base map software. The anticipated price for the Earthmate GPS PN-20 with DeLorme Topo USA 5.0 software, providing full U.S. topographic coverage, is only $299.95. This price includes $50 worth of Aerial Data Packet downloads.
