Dayton legend Sullivan dies at 71.

McMINNVILLE - Dewey Sullivan, whose career record of 352-84-2 made him the winningest coach in Oregon high school football history, died of complications from pneumonia Wednesday. He was 71.

``Dewey asked the family to let him go,'' Benjie Hedgecock, a family friend, told the News-Register of McMinnville. ``They struggled with it. Nobody was ready to let him go. The whole community has been struggling with it. But Dewey pleaded with them to let him go.''

 senior Kelcy McKenna signed a letter of intent to play tennis at Arizona State on Wednesday.

McKenna has won three straight Class 3A/2A/1A girls singles titles and went 24-0 last year to run her career record to 67-0.

She is the eighth girl in state history to win three straight state tennis titles and will have the opportunity to become the fifth four-time winner in the spring.

She did not lose a game at the state tournament last year and was ranked No. 1 in the Pacific Northwest and 14th in the nation among 18-and-under junior girls by the United States Tennis Association “USTA” redirects here. For other uses, see USTA (disambiguation).
