Dayton Superior Corporation acquires Ironco Manufacturing Co.

MIAMISBURG, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 24, 1997--

Dayton Superior Announces That It Has Acquired Ironco Manufacturing Company, a Southeastern Manufacturer and Distributor

of Products Used in Highway Construction.

Dayton Superior Corporation (NYSE:DSD) today announced that it had finalized the acquisition of Ironco Manufacturing Company and Birmingham Bar Coating of Birmingham, Alabama. These two related companies manufacture and distribute paving products used in highway construction. J. A. Ciccarelli, Dayton Superior's President and CEO commented, "This acquisition will strengthen our American Highway Technology division's ability to serve the highway paving products market in the southeast. We are pleased to welcome Ironco's managers and employees to our company." While the purchase price was not disclosed, Dayton Superior expects the transaction to add to net income during 1997.

Ciccarelli further noted, "We have grown to be the largest factor in the concrete and masonry accessories markets by pursuing a program which judiciously supplements our internal growth by selective acquisitions. The Ironco acquisition is the fourth acquisition or joint venture agreement which we have finalized in the past year and a half. Dayton Superior is the largest North American manufacturer and distributor of metal accessories used in concrete and masonry construction. The company's products are used primarily in two segments of the construction industry: non-residential buildings and infrastructure construction projects.
