Days Inns extends presence in Israel; To open landmark property in Jerusalem; Two more hotels expected by 1999.

, Days Inn Israel, announced plans today for the conversion of a landmark Jerusalem hotel to a Days Inn and the expansion of the 77-room Tiberias Days Inn to a 200-room hotel.

At the same time, plans were announced for the construction of two new Days Inns in Jerusalem by 1999. These plans are part of DIA's commitment to growing the brand internationally.

"We are delighted that our master licensee, Days Inn Israel, has embarked on plans to further develop the Days Inns brand in Israel," said Joseph R. Kane Jr., president and COO of Days Inns of America Inc. "To have properties in such a significant city as Jerusalem extends flagship awareness of Days Inns internationally."

Kane cited the boom in demand for affordable, three-star lodging in countries like Israel, which are experiencing increased business and leisure travel, as the trend that prompted Days Inns' stepped up international expansion efforts.

 Yerushalayim Hotel, will begin operating as a Days Inns in September. The 200-room, all-suite hotel is located in the heart of Jerusalem's business district and is in close proximity to its major attractions.
