Dayna ships new plug and play 10BASE-T workgroup switch priced at $100 per port.

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 2, 1997--Dayna Communications Inc. announced today they are shipping their new 8-port 10BASE-T switch designed specifically to speed up network performance for growing businesses and workgroups.

The DaynaSTAR MiniSwitch-8 is perfect for users looking to maximize their network's performance without excessive cost or complexity. "If you have a busy network, the device saves network traffic, dramatically speeding up file transfers" MacUser-UK noted, "with the Dayna MiniSwitch-8, data transfers were sometimes twice as fast.

) left the rest of the network enough breathing space to perform without noticeable delays."

The MiniSwitch-8 works with PC and Macintosh-compatible computers and other devices running on a 10BASE-T Ethernet Ethernet

Telecommunications networking protocol introduced by Xerox Corp. in 1979. It was developed as an inexpensive way of sending information quickly between office machines connected together in a single room or building, but it rapidly became a standard computer
network. Installation is as simple as taking the MiniSwitch-8 from the box and connecting the cables. The plug-and-play design allows users to connect the MiniSwitch-8 in their current network without any network reconfiguration.

The switch automatically learns the addresses of connected devices and reconfigures itself if devices are moved. The MiniSwitch is a store-and-forward switch A switching device that stores a complete incoming data packet before it is sent out. Such switches are used when incoming and outgoing speeds differ. Contrast with cut-through switch.  ensuring data integrity by checking every packet before transmitting it. Each port supports up to 1,024 addresses for a total of 8,192, making it powerful enough for even large networks. Priced at around $100 per port this switch is the ideal solution for any network.
