Dayna announces new communication software package for its PCMCIA modems and multi-function cards.MACWORLD EXPO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 9, 1996--Dayna Communications, Inc. Tuesday announced a new communication software package called the Dayna AddressBook(TM). The AddressBook, developed in conjunction with Apple Computer, is the first communication management software designed to support multiple communication technologies allowing users to organize voice, FAX, e-mail, and paging, from one central location. Version 1.0 of the software will offer users an easy-to-use faxing and address book interface; future versions of the product will integrate all communications technologies Noun 1. communications technology - the activity of designing and constructing and maintaining communication systems engineering, technology - the practical application of science to commerce or industry within a single-interface package. Dayna plans to ship version 1.0 of the AddressBook with its CommuniCard(TM) line of PC Card 14.4 and 28.8 modems and multi-function Ethernet/modem cards in mid February. Powerful Database Options The Dayna AddressBook provides users with powerful database options. It lets users differentiate between individual, company, or distribution list entries, then from the AddressBook's central location, manage and manipulate manipulate To cause a security to sell at an artificial price. The AddressBook features Entry Linking which allows users to link individual and company entries so they can sort and list a group of contacts associated with a specific company. The AddressBook also contains a powerful search engine which lets users search the database for an entry using every possible criteria, and then mark, view, sort, and list the entries as desired. An Import/Export function allows entries to be imported so that fields in other contact management or database programs will align align ( v to move the teeth into their proper positions to conform to the line of occlusion. with those of the AddressBook before they are imported. A tracking feature lets users track notes and files associated with an entry. Easy-to-Use Faxing Interface The AddressBook's management capabilities let users specify settings for different locations such as office, home, or foreign countries. Using the Location Management feature, users can set the AddressBook to automatically make the necessary adjustments to fax numbers so a connection can be made without changing dialing strings, calling card information, and prefixes when the user changes locations. A Drag and Drop A graphical user interface (GUI) capability that lets you perform operations by moving the icon of an object with the mouse into another window or onto another icon. For example, files can be copied or moved by dragging them from one folder to another. capability allows the user to fax a document by simply dragging it to an entry in the AddressBook database. Users do not have to be within the application in which the document was created in order to send a fax. All necessary items such as a coversheet or dialing strings are automatically attached and the document is sent to the selected entry. Faxing can also be accomplished using the traditional print-to-FAX command from within any application. The Drag and Drop capability can also be used within the AddressBook for quick duplication duplication /du·pli·ca·tion/ (doo-pli-ka´shun) 1. the act or process of doubling, or the state of being doubled. 2. and linking of entries. The AddressBook Ships with Dayna's PC Card Modems and Multi- multi- word element [L.], many. multi- pref. 1. Many; much; multiple: multiarticular. 2. More than one: multiparous. Function Cards The AddressBook is part of Dayna's CommuniCard Modem and CommuniCardPlus Ethernet/Modem family. The CommuniCard Modems offer users of Apple PowerBooks with a built-in PC Card slot A socket for inserting a printed circuit board or a PC Card (CardBus card). With the CommuniCardPlus, users can connect a PowerBook to an Ethernet Ethernet Telecommunications networking protocol introduced by Xerox Corp. in 1979. It was developed as an inexpensive way of sending information quickly between office machines connected together in a single room or building, but it rapidly became a standard computer network and a phone line using a single card; both the Ethernet and modem functions can operate simultaneously. Version 1.0 of the Dayna AddressBook will begin shipping with the CommuniCard product line in mid February; future versions of the product will support multiple communication technologies and will be offered to current users of the product through an upgrade program. The cellular-ready CommuniCard 14.4 and 28.8 Modems have a street price of $270 and $416, respectively. The non-cellular 28.8 model sells for an estimated street price of $345, and the CommuniCardPlus Ethernet/Modem Card for $520.
