CHANTILLY, Va. -- BIA Information Network, (http://www.activeaccess.com) a leader in private-label desktop applications, announced today that DayWeather, a weather forecast provider to the western United States Noun 1. western United States - the region of the United States lying to the west of the Mississippi River

Santa Fe Trail - a trail that extends from Missouri to New Mexico; an important route for settlers moving west in the 19th century
, has launched BIA's ActiveAccess private-label desktop application offering local temperature, severe weather alerts and emergency warnings directly to individual personal computers and laptops. Available as a downloadable application from the DayWeather website (http://www.dayweather.com/desktop_info.htm), DayWeather Desktop will send customized alerts and text crawls about report road detours, weather conditions and lodge closures to Aspen and Vail skiers and ski resorts.

"Our company had been searching for unique and compelling ways to use the Internet to reach out to the local community," said Don Day, Jr., president of DayWeather. "BIA's ActiveAccess product provides us the ability to deliver information directly to local skiers by letting them know which ski areas are open for business and which roads to get there. The product also lets us target users based on locality, right down to zip code or email address See Internet address. , so we can customize everything from communications to advertising."

"We believe our ActiveAccess application is a superb complement to what we are currently providing our radio and print audiences. This is a tool that will ultimately make our weather products better. Plus it gives us the opportunity to become the premier weather application in our region of the U.S.," Day said.

Available at http://www.dayweather.com/desktop_info.htm, the free DayWeather Desktop was completely personalized to DayWeather.com's unique look and feel. The application can either run fully-open on a computer or as a minimized application, showing the current temperature in a system tray An area on the right side of the Taskbar on the Windows interface used to display the status of various functions, such as speaker volume and modem transmission. Applications also insert icons on the System Tray to give you a quick entrance into either the application itself or some  (next to the clock). This small, light-weight program does not use a lot of hard drive space or memory. The system sits idle in a personal computer until an alert is issued. When a weather alert or emergency is declared, the icon will sound a warning through the computer, followed by a pop-up screen explaining the type of alert. Again, separating itself from the competition, the program contains no adware, spyware or malware.

DayWeather Desktop Application can also be customized by the user to receive local temperature and forecasts, road conditions and closure reports, in addition to breaking news, video clips, and local advertising promotions.

Haidee Calore, senior vice president and general manager for BIA Information Network, said, "DayWeather stakes its reputation on providing accurate weather and forecasting Weather and Forecasting is a publication of the American Meteorological Society.
