salons and spas hire independent contractors for these positions,
others rent out stations and others employ these professionals on their
payrolls. This data includes all licensed professionals available at
the day spa, regardless of their employment status.

(2) Numbers of total staff include the number of certified
professionals and others such as receptionists. Information was
provided by representatives of the companies themselves. Spas were
ranked by the number of licensed professionals, in the case of a tie
they were ranked by the number of total employees.
