Day Two: PCMA Convention Continues with Highlights Following Opening Session.


Philadelphia Convention Historical context
Before the Constitution was drafted, those who came to be known as Federalists and Anti-Federalists both agreed about the government's failure to deal with commerce.

WHAT:     Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA)
          delegates gear up for more five-star experiences, including
          remarks from Governor Ed Rendell, during PCMA's Opening
          General Session.

WHEN:     Monday, January 9, 2006

DETAILS:  8 - 10 a.m. - Opening General Session - PCC Grand Ballroom,
          12th & Arch streets

          Hear Gordon Bethune, former CEO and Chairman of Continental
          Airlines. In addition, We the people will celebrate PCMA's
          opening with a patriotic presentation by the Philadelphia
          Boys Choir and a moving theatrical performance you'll never
          forget. The National Constitution Center has produced for
          PCMA a special presentation of "Freedom Rising," a
          theatrical, multimedia experience dedicated to connecting
          visitors with the story of the U.S. Constitution. Gordon
          Bethune will begin speaking at 9:15 a.m., followed by Gov.
          Rendell at 9:45 a.m. and Tom Muldoon, PCVB President, at
          8:30 a.m.

          10:15 - 10:45 a.m. - PCMA Press Conference - PCC, Room
          202A, 12th & Arch streets

          Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, PCVB President Tom
          Muldoon, PCMA President and CEO Deborah Sexton, Chairman of
          the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority Board Hon.
          Michael Nutter, along with PCMA Chair Gregg Talley and PCMA
          Chair-Elect Leigh Wintz, both Philadelphia natives, will
          hold a press conference regarding the importance of PCMA
          and an update on PCC expansion.

          2 - 3:30 p.m. - Special Plenary Session - PCC Grand
          Ballroom, 12th & Arch streets

          In response to the recent natural disasters, a special
          plenary session--In the Eye of the Storm: Are We Prepared?--
          will cover crisis management and contingency plans for the
          meetings industry. General Richard Myers, retired Fifteenth
          Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, will be the
          keynote speaker. He will be followed by J. Stephen Perry,
          president/CEO, New Orleans CVB, and William D. Talbert III,
          president & CEO, Greater Miami CVB, an association meeting
          planner and an expert on infectious disease.

          7 - 9 p.m. - PCMA Golden Anniversary Celebration -
          Philadelphia Marriott Downtown Grand Ballroom, 12th & Arch
          streets

          Enjoy the "Red Carpet" treatment at the Philadelphia
          Marriott Downtown. Don't miss a chance to see the five-foot
          golden anniversary cake made from 600 pounds of vanilla
          pound cake. Cake cutting will take place at 8 p.m.

          9:30 p.m. - Muldoon's Saloon - Boathouse Row Bar at the
          Rittenhouse Hotel, 210 W. Rittenhouse Square

          Join "celebrity meeting planner bartenders," plus Tom
          Muldoon, president of the PCVB; Paul Decker, president of
          the Valley Forge CVB; and Joe McGrath, president & CEO for
          the Greater Pittsburgh CVB, at Muldoon's Saloon. This
          spirited event will benefit the Hospitality Industry Relief
          Fund for the Gulf Coast.
