) has served the citizens of South Carolina since 1824. MUSC is a state university with a medical center and six colleges for the education of a broad range of health professionals, biomedical bi·o·med·i·cal

The Medical Center is comprised of three separate hospitals: the University Hospital; the Institute of Psychiatry The Institute of Psychiatry (IOP) is a research institution dedicated to discovering what causes mental health problems and diseases of the brain. In addition, its aim is to help identify new treatments for them and ways to prevent them in the first place. ; and the Children's Hospital.

Daxor's Blood Volume Analyzer BVA-100 will be located in the Nuclear Medicine Department at the Medical Center. The Medical Center includes centers for specialized care (Heart Center, Transplantation Center, Hollings Cancer Center, Digestive Diseases Center), numerous outpatient facilities include the Family Medicine Center, University Diagnostic Center, and affiliated faculty practice ambulatory care centers. In 2003-04 there were over 27,000 inpatient admissions and almost 630,000 outpatient visits. Blood Volume Analysis will be available for all patients requiring a blood volume determination, and will be especially utilized by the Heart Failure Department.

Dr. Naveen Pereira, MUSC's Medical Director of the Heart Failure Program, stated that, "Dr. Adrian Van Bakel, Director of Heart Failure and Heart Transplant, and I look forward to measuring patient blood volumes and treating volume derangements to discover potential beneficial outcomes in patient's with heart failure and heart transplant candidates."

Daxor Corporation manufactures and markets the BVA-100, a semi-automated Blood Volume Analyzer. The BVA-100 is used in conjunction with a single use diagnostic kit. Among nationally renowned hospitals which have purchased the BVA-100 Blood Volume Analyzer after using it on a trial basis are The Mayo Clinic, The Cleveland Clinic and New York University New York University, mainly in New York City; coeducational; chartered 1831, opened 1832 as the Univ. of the City of New York, renamed 1896. It comprises 13 schools and colleges, maintaining 4 main centers (including the Medical Center) in the city, as well as the  Medical Center. This will be the first BVA-100 in South Carolina.
