Chih Ho, Dr. Alyssa Chapital and Dr. Danny Takanishi, reported that the utilization of Daxor's Blood Volume Analyzer BVA-100 to guide fluid management therapy of 40 patients that were studied within the Intensive Care Unit at Queens Medical Center resulted in a positive clinical response in 42% of the cases.

"Our research demonstrated that by altering our treatment based on blood volume measurement, patients experienced improved kidney function, cardiac index and blood oxygenation oxygenation /ox·y·gen·a·tion/ (ok?si-je-na´shun)

levels," noted Dr. Biuk-Aghai. Dr. Mihae Yu, Professor of Surgery at the University of Hawaii stated that, "Correct fluid management in critically ill patients is essential, and the measurement of blood volume provided a change in our fluid management 45% of the time compared to existing methods like pulmonary artery catheter In medicine pulmonary artery catheterization is the insertion of a catheter into a pulmonary artery. Its purpose is diagnostic; it is used to detect heart failure or sepsis, monitor therapy, and evaluate the effects of drugs.  measurements."

"The result of this data demonstrates that Daxor's BVA-100 provides improved patient care in the intensive critical care unit," stated John Reyes-Guerra, Daxor's V.P. of Sales & Marketing. "Thousands of patients every day require critical fluid management therapies in the ICU ICU intensive care unit.

. Prior to the BVA-100, physicians have had to make clinical judgments based upon various methods, none of which measure a patient's blood volume status. The BVA-100 eliminates the guess work. All of the preliminary research, like the work being done at Queens Medical Center, continues to show that blood volume analysis could become a standard of care in the critical care unit."

Daxor Corporation manufactures and markets the BVA-100, a semi-automated Blood Volume Analyzer. The BVA-100 is used in conjunction with a single use diagnostic kit.
