Dawson Geophysical Company Makes Announcement.

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 1999--

Dawson Geophysical Company (Nasdaq:DWSN), a Midland, Texas-based provider of 3-D reflection seismograph services to the petroleum industry since 1952, reported increased demand for services from previously depressed levels of utilization. The Company is operating four of its six vibrator-source 3-D data acquisition crews on contracts extending through the remainder of calendar 1999.

This gratifying turnaround from only one crew operating earlier in the year is due to much improved prices for crude oil and natural gas produced by the Company's clients. However, fiercely competitive bidding for current seismic surveys continues with little relief in sight. Consequently, the Company expects that its operations will remain unprofitable until such time as the geophysical contracting industry as a whole becomes more fully utilized. Although unprofitable, the Company believes that its operations will continue to be cash flow positive.
