Dawn E. Langley, dean of general education and developmental studies at Piedmont Community College in North Carolina, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to conduct research at the universities in Islamabad, Pakistan during the 2009 academic year, according to the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.


Dawn E. Langley, dean of general education and developmental studies at Piedmont Community College Piedmont Community College is a two-year post-secondary institution in Caswell and Person counties in North Carolina. It serves approximately 55,000 residents in the rural area, and is one of fifty-eight schools in the North Carolina Community College System.  in North Carolina, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to conduct research at the universities in Islamabad, Pakistan during the 2009 academic year, according to the United States Department of State Noun 1.  and the J. William Fulbright James William Fulbright (April 9, 1905 – February 9, 1995) was a member of the United States Senate representing Arkansas. Fulbright was a Southern Democrat and a staunch multilateralist, supported racial segregation, supported the creation of the United Nations and opposed  Foreign Scholarship Board. Langley will conduct research on creative women in educational leadership positions in Pakistan during her two months' stay. Langley is one of approximately 1,100 U.S. faculty and professionals who will travel abroad through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program. For the past 25 years, she has been an educator in Vermont, Florida and North Carolina. Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate in The Union Institute and University's (Ohio) Ph.D. in interdisciplinary studies program. In her current job, Langley has been a leader in the arts, starting an associate in fine arts degree program and building an annual performance festival called StepN2theArtZ. For the past couple of years, she has been the global initiatives contact on the college's two campuses and has also been at the forefront of redesigning the developmental studies program.
