U.S. Appeals Court

CLAIMS

Davis v. Hall, 375 F.3d 703 (8th Cir. 2004). A former state inmate brought a [section] 1983 action against prison officials, alleging due process violations in connection with his prolonged incarceration Confinement in a jail or prison; imprisonment.

Police officers and other law enforcement officers are authorized by federal, state, and local lawmakers to arrest and confine persons suspected of crimes. The judicial system is authorized to confine persons convicted of crimes.
 after he was ordered released. The district court granted final judgment for the inmate and the officials appealed. The appeals court affirmed in part, and reversed and remanded in part. The appeals court held that prison officials who failed to release the inmate for 57 days after a judge ordered the release deprived him of his Fourteenth Amendment Fourteenth Amendment, addition to the U.S. Constitution, adopted 1868. The amendment comprises five sections. Section 1
