, who want him to check out the fiancee of one of their members. She has a history of husbands dying mysteriously, and now her betrothed has died mysteriously as well. This leads Falco into an investigation of real estate developers and results in his being severely beaten. However, it also leads to a reunion with his former girlfriend, Helena Justina. Falco's complicated personal life, his less than serious attitude, and his propensity to sidestep proper procedures all make for a good story; and the setting, ancient Rome, is certainly an unusual one for a murder mystery. The high production quality and an excellent dramatization by the actors add to the fun of this mystery. Nola Theiss, Sanibel, FL
