Meanwhile 'keeper Paul Jones, who proved to be the late hero with a superb save just as Belarus looked like stealing a draw, believes the win could be a significant milestone when the record books are written on Mark Hughes' international tenure.

"It was an important win for us, and it gives us all great heart for the future, especially if we get a decent draw in the European Championships, " said the Southampton star.
