Davidson 99 Regional Index Pulls Back During Second Quarter.

GREAT FALLS Great Falls, city (1990 pop. 55,097), seat of Cascade co., N central Mont., second largest city in the state, at the confluence of the Missouri and Sun rivers and near the falls that give the city its name; inc. 1888. , Mont. -- D.A. Davidson & Co., the largest full-service investment firm based in the Northwest, today announced that the Davidson 99 Regional Stock Index declined 4.9 percent for the second quarter of the year, lagging behind the Dow Jones Industrial Average Dow Jones Industrial Average

For the second quarter, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.4 percent, while the S&P 500 and NASDAQ Composite fell 1.9 percent and 7.3 percent, respectively. Year to date, the Davidson 99 Regional Index is up 2.8 percent, compared with a 4 percent gain for the Dow, a 1.8 percent rise for the S&P 500 and a 1.5 percent loss for the NASDAQ Composite. Since its inception in January 2004, the Davidson 99 is up 32.4 percent.

"The Davidson 99 Regional Index, with the rest of the market, experienced a pullback during the quarter. After outperforming the major indices for each of the previous eight quarters, it isn't surprising the index was hit by a little heavier profit-taking last quarter than the Dow and S&P 500," said Fred Dickson, Chief Market Strategist Noun 1. market strategist - someone skilled in planning marketing campaigns

"The Davidson 99 continues to enjoy the benefit of strong regional economic growth from its services and transportation equipment and materials component companies, but has seen slowing in companies that sell to the consumer -- a natural consequence of high energy prices and rising interest rates."
