Davids hopes Spurs finally nail top four.

Byline: Ed Casey Ed Casey (2 January, 1933 - May 1, 2006) was best known as a former leader of the Australian Labor Party in Queensland between 1978 and 1982. He also served as Primary Industries Minister in the government of Wayne Goss between 1989 and 1995.

FORMER Spurs midfielder Edgar Davids Edgar Steven Davids (born March 13, 1973 in Paramaribo, Suriname) is a Dutch professional football player. He plays in the midfield position and is known for his hard work ethic. He is in his second stint at Ajax, having joined them as an 18-year-old. He has also played for A.C.  admits he's rooting for Harry Redknapp's men to go one better than the Tottenham side he starred in by getting the club into the Champions League.

Davids was in the 2006 team that just missed out on fourth place in the Premier League when half the squad were hit by a vomiting bug ahead of the final match of the season.

Spurs, who have never qualified for Europe's elite competition, went into their last game at West Ham Coordinates:

one point ahead of Arsenal but the Gunners took the Champions League place when Martin Jol's depleted side crashed to a 2-1 defeat atWest Ham.

Now, Dutch star Davids is hoping this could finally be the year Tottenham hit the big time.

Redknapp's team have started well in the current campaign and Sunday's 9-1 win over Wigan Wigan (wĭg`ən), city (1991 pop. 88,725) and metropolitan district, N England, located in the Manchester metropolitan area on the Douglas River.  fired them back into the top four.

And Davids said: "I am always rooting for them and I hope they finally get the fourth spot.

"It's going to be a hard and long run and will be decided in the final games. I just hope that it isn't the last game, like when I was there.

"They have started very well but it's not a sprint, it's a marathon and we'll have to see what they do in the second half of the season.

"I was back at the training ground recently and Harry was really relaxed and very nice. When I am in London I always go back to say hello to the boys and check up on them."

Despite the disappointment of missing out on the Champions League three years ago, Davids is happy that he fulfiled the club's targets when they signed him from Inter Milan the previous summer.

The 36-year-old, who has not played since quitting Ajax in 2008 but is rumoured to be planning a comeback, said: "I remember the West Ham game. I liked my whole time at Spurs and I don't see it as a loss just because we finished fifth.

"When they signed me they had one objective - European football. I delivered.

"They said European football and didn't even dream of the Champions League but when you get close you want to take it on. However, it was still the first time they had qualified for Europe in years."

Meanwhile, Vedran Corluka's agent has distanced the Croatia defender from a switch from Spurs to Italian giants Juventus.

Mario Mamic said: "Juventus? He still has a five-year contract with Tottenham to respect." But Russian star Roman Pavlyuchenko Roman Anatolevich Pavlyuchenko (Russian: Роман Анатольевич Павлюченко  could leave White Hart Lane

in January and the striker is waiting to see if Roma are interested.

Honduras international Melvin Valladares could come in to replace him and the Real Espana ace claims to be waiting for a decision after going on trial at Tottenham.

The striker said: "It was a nice experience for me. I feel happy because I think I did a good job but now the last word is with Spurs and I have to wait, while doing my best for my current side."
