David W. Miller receives Life Membership in NGWA.


MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 1997--David W. Miller, noted hydrogeologist and one of the founders of Geraghty & Miller, Inc., was awarded a National Ground Water Association Life Membership at the NGWA's recent annual conference.

The award is presented periodically to persons of eminence in the groundwater industry who have contributed special service to the industry or to NGWA NGWA National Ground Water Association

. This is the second tribute Mr. Miller has received from the Association. He was given the Science Award in 1979 for his major contributions to the science of groundwater.

David Miller's career began in 1952 at the groundwater branch of the US Geological Survey The term geological survey can be used to describe both the conduct of a survey for geological purposes and an institution holding geological information.

. He then entered private industry, and in 1957, founded Geraghty & Miller, Inc. with James J. Geraghty.

Mr. Miller has carried out groundwater investigations throughout the US and has served as a technical advisor abroad. His work has covered groundwater resource development, water management studies for agencies at all levels of government, and groundwater contamination investigations in a wide variety of geologic environments. Mr. Miller has served as project leader and advisor for numerous Superfund sites and RCRA RCRA Resource Conservation & Recovery Act of 1976
RCRA Resort and Commercial Recreation Association
 projects on behalf of many of the firm's industrial clients and he has had oversight on some of the major fuel cleanups affecting groundwater resources in the US.

Mr. Miller has served on the National Research Council's Water Science and Technology Board, on the Ground Water Research Subcommittee for USEPA's Science Advisory Board, and on the advisory board of the National Center for Ground Water Research.
