With a dramatically changed world demanding more from the communication profession than ever before, David W. Biegler, retired vice chairman of TXU and exemplar of corporate responsibility and community service, is expected to urge Dallas area chief executives and professional communicators to keep communications at the forefront of the decision-making process in his keynote address at the 2002 Dallas/IABC Bronze Quill Awards Luncheon on Nov. 22.

David W. Biegler retired as vice chairman of TXU Corp. in December 2001 and previously served as president and chief operating officer. He has long been an active leader in civic and charitable causes in the Dallas area, having served as a board member or officer of 18 community organizations including the United Way Foundation, the Greater Dallas Chamber and the Old Red Foundation, to name a few.

Mr. Biegler was recently named the recipient of the coveted 73rd Annual Linz Award for overall community contribution and excellence, jointly sponsored by Zale Corporation and The Dallas Morning News. He continues to pursue his steadfast dedication to the city of Dallas through participation in countless civic endeavors.

The annual Bronze Quill Awards Program, a cornerstone activity of the Dallas/IABC, recognizes communicators in the Metroplex whose work is determined by senior-level communicators to be best in class.

This year, awards in 41 categories including individual works, communications management, overall excellence in corporate, community, not-for-profit and executive leadership and September 11 communications response, will be presented during the November 22nd Awards Luncheon at a venue to be announced. The 2002 Awards Program will also honor the Dallas Communicator of the Year (COTY).
