Interests in Recently Created Fox Pan American Sports Venture

David Sternberg, formerly Vice President and General Manager of Fox Sports International, has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Network Operations and Business Development and General Manager of the Fox Sports World and Fox Sports World Espanol U.S. sports networks. Sternberg, 33, also assumes immediate day-to-day management of Fox Cable Networks Group's interests in the new Fox Pan American Sports venture announced last month. That venture, which combines top North, Central and South American Spanish-language sports programming and distribution resources of Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst, Liberty Media and Fox Sports International, promises international sports enthusiasts and marketers in the U.S. greater access to top programming than ever before. Bob Thompson, president of Fox Sports Cable Networks and Fox Sports International, to whom he will report, announced Mr. Sternberg's promotion.

In assuming the new post, Mr. Sternberg gains operational oversight for Fox Sports World and Fox Sports World Espanol, which already rank among cable television's fastest-growing sports networks, adding 104 percent and 53 percent to their respective subscriber bases in the past year and a half alone. Fox Sports World Espanol, now part of the Fox Pan American Sports venture, is currently seen in 4.7 million homes and available to more than 40 percent of the U.S. Hispanic audience. The channel is coming off its inaugural season of telecasting Major League Baseball's World Series and playoffs. That marquee programming proved especially successful with Spanish-language audiences and marketers during this past baseball season, and Fox Sports World Espanol holds the same rights to the Fall Classic and MLB playoffs for the coming fall.

Fox Sports World, wholly owned by Fox Cable Networks Group, is the nation's only 24-hour sports network dedicated to top international sporting events like Premier League soccer, cricket, rugby and others. It is currently available to more than 13.9 million U.S. homes via cable and satellite distribution, compared to 5.1 million only 18 months ago. Especially popular in large metropolitan markets with significant European and Pan-Asian populations, Fox Sports World has recently become a staple of major cable operators like New York's Cablevision Systems interested in utilizing its event programming to help aggressively build out their digital distribution and convert subscribers to more capable platforms.

The recent creation of Fox Pan American Sports will greatly empower both Fox Sports World and Fox Sports World Espanol with access to even more top international programming rights. This includes the highly popular Copa Libertadores and Copa Panamericana soccer competitions; key events from Argentine, Chilean, Mexican, Italian Cup and English Premier League soccer; Major League Baseball telecasts; Caribbean and Mexican baseball; golf from the PGA Tour and tennis from the ATP Tour; among others.

In addition to these growing domestic networks, Mr. Sternberg will also assist the Fox Pan American Sports venture partners in managing the Fox Sports Latin America network, reaching 11.6 million subscribers in 18 Spanish-speaking territories throughout Latin America. He will retain his general management duties for Fox Sports Middle East; Fox Sports Israel; and Fox Sports Eastern Europe, all services wholly owned by Fox; and will continue to oversee Fox's collaboration with Global Television in Fox Sports World Canada, launched only last year.

Before joining Fox Sports International as Director of Business Development in 1998, Mr. Sternberg served as a management consultant in PricewaterhouseCoopers' Entertainment, Media and Communications Strategy Group in Los Angeles, assisting major clients from both the retail and entertainment industries. Before that, he held sports management positions with World Cup USA 1994 and the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, home to the Oakland Raiders and Oakland Athletics. He graduated with a Masters of Business Administration in 1996 from the University of California at Los Angeles' Anderson School, and previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature from Princeton University in 1990. He and his wife, Julie, reside in Encino, California, with their daughter, Sarah Anne, and a newborn son, Brian.
