David Rudolph Named Vice President and General Manager, Turner South.


ATLANTA--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Nov. 15, 1999--

David Rudolph has been named vice president and general manager of Turner South, it was announced today by Bradley J. Siegel, president of general entertainment networks, Turner Broadcasting System Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (often abbreviated TBS Networks or TBS, inc.) is the company managing the collection of cable networks and properties started by Robert Edward "Ted" Turner from the mid-1970s to the late-1990s. , Inc. (TBS, Inc.).

Rudolph is responsible for all day-to-day operations of TBS, Inc.'s newest entertainment network, the first regional entertainment basic cable service in television history, including programming, budget and staffing matters. He is based in Atlanta and reports to Siegel.

"David has played a key role, over the past year, in the development and launch of Turner South," said Siegel. "I have worked directly with David since he joined the company and have always been impressed with how quickly and comprehensively he understood our business. His business acumen, analytic skills and vision are extremely impressive."

Formerly director of business development for TBS Superstation, Rudolph wrote the business plan for and oversaw the development of Turner South, which launched October 1, 1999. He forged business partnerships with the Southern Progress Magazine Group and with Nashville's Bluebird bluebird, common name for a North American migratory bird of the family Turdidae (thrush family). The eastern bluebird, Sialia sialis, is among the first spring arrivals in the North. It is about 7 in. (17.8 cm) long.  Cafe that led to the creation of two of Turner South's signature original series, Southern Living Presents and Live From the Blue Bird Cafe.

Rudolph joined TBS, Inc. in July 1996 as an analyst in Turner Entertainment Group's strategic planning unit. Through successive promotions to manager and director, he assisted in the investigation and analysis of new business ventures for TBS, Inc., including leading extensive research, developing business plans, delivering internal and external presentation and preparing strategic briefs.
