WORCESTER David R. Markert, 61, of Cutting Ave., died suddenly at home on Monday, August 18, 2008.

He leaves his wife of 17 years, Linda J. (Allard) Markert; a step-son, Stephen J. Flagg of Worcester; his mother, Gladys (Deyermond) Markert of Hardwick; a brother, Peter B. Markert of Hardwick; two sisters, Wendi L. Lipphardt of Holzwickede, Germany and Amanda G. Begin of Barre; nieces and nephews. He was born in Lawrence, son of the late David L. Markert. David graduated from Piscataquis Community High School in Guilford, ME and Quinsigamond Community College Quinsigamond Community College (colloq: QCC, Quinsig) is a public, two-year academic institution located in Worcester, Massachusetts. A commuter school, the college currently has an enrollment of 7,000 students in its Associate's degree and its certification programs.  in Worcester.

David was David Was (born David Weiss, 26 October 1952, Detroit) is, with his stage-brother Don Was, the founder of the influential 1980s pop group, Was (Not Was).

Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour at 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 21st, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association American Heart Association (AHA),
