David M. Bennett joins Mail Boxes Etc. as EVP -- Operations Support and Development.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 17, 1996--Mail Boxes Etc. (NASDAQ:MAIL) (MBE), the world's largest franchiser of neighborhood retail centers specializing in postal, business and communications services, Tuesday announced that David M. Bennett has joined the company as executive vice president of operations support and development, a newly created position.

Bennett, 51, most recently served as president and chief executive officer with Macheezmo Mouse Restaurants Inc., a Mexican fast food chain which operates 19 restaurants in the Pacific Northwest. He has more than two decades of franchise industry experience.

Previously he held the position of president and chief operating officer with ZuZu Inc. and ZuZu Franchising Corp., a restaurant chain with 60 franchised units in 10 states which is allied with The Brice Group and with Arby's.

Bennett previously served as vice president of operations for Marriott Corp.'s Travel Plaza Division, where he had P&L responsibility for a $325 million business with approximately 6,000 employees.

Prior to heading the Travel Plaza Division, he was vice president of Marriott's Sports Entertainment Division, where he launched and managed the corporation's stadium/arena business and theme entertainment business.

He joined Marriott in 1988 as regional vice president for Marriott Host International.

Prior to joining Marriott, Bennett was president and chief operating officer of Morgan Foods, one of the largest franchisers of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Corp. and Sizzler Restaurants International.

From 1983 to 1987 he served as vice president of Taco Bell Corp., a division of Pepsico Inc.

Earlier in his career, Bennett held management positions at Sambo's Restaurants Inc., Motel 6 and Superscope Inc.

Bennett attended Northwestern University and received his BBA from California Lutheran College. He also holds an AMD from The Harvard Graduate School of Business. He serves as an honorary faculty member of Michigan State University and Washington State University, where he still lectures.

He is a member of the Corporation of the Culinary Institute of America and has served on several boards of directors.
