David Lavin promoted by Viacom Productions, named vice president, business affairs.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 28, 1997--David Lavin, who has been with Viacom since 1992, has been promoted to vice president of business affairs, it was announced Wednesday by Perry Simon, president of Viacom Productions.

Lavin formerly held the positions of executive director of business affairs and director of business affairs, administration. Lavin is responsible for negotiating contracts and agreements with talent and the networks involved in varied series, movies and other projects for TV and other media.

He reports to Lorna Shepard, senior vice president of business affairs.

Before joining Viacom in 1992, Lavin was with Universal Television, where he rose to the position of administrator of business affairs.

A native Californian, Lavin is a graduate of Cal State, Northridge, where he earned both an MBA and a BS in business management.

Married, he and his wife Karen, who is also in the television industry at NBC-4 Los Angeles, live in Woodland Hills with their two children, Alexander, age six, and Samantha, age four.

Viacom Productions is a division of the Paramount Television Group, which is part of the entertainment operations of Viacom Inc. Viacom Productions develops and produces series, films and specials for network television, cable, direct-to-video and other markets.
