I became editorial page editor last July. Recent awards: I won "Best of show" for editorial writing from the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association. I also won Best Editorial Writing in 1999 from the Suburban Newspapers of America. Outside professional work: I have taught journalism at Washington College and I'm teaching again this fall at Cecil Community College. Writing adventures: My first novel, Sharpshooter, was recently published by Penguin Putnam as a mass-market paperback. Worst thing about job: It's taking a stance, and then dealing with the fallout, especially in a small community.
