The Star Trek New Frontier series deals with the exploits of Captain Mackenzie Calhoun. This installment flashes back to Calhoun's Starfleet Academy days as he tries to figure out the strange behavior of one of his crew, who has killed another crewman. Calhoun's direct but irreverent interpersonal style made his Academy career rather tumultuous. As usual, Calhoun uses unorthodox methods to get to the bottom of this mystery that puts him on the verge On the Verge (or The Geography of Yearning) is a play written by Eric Overmyer. It makes extensive use of esoteric language and pop culture references from the late nineteenth century to 1955.  of serious trouble with his superiors.
