Kyocera Wireless Corp., a leading manufacturer of CDMA wireless phones, today announced that Dave Whalen, corporate vice president of global sales and marketing, has been named to the Board of Directors of the Center for Telecom Management (CTM) at the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business.

CTM is an industry-sponsored center at the university's Marshall School of Business, devoted to research and education to help the networked digital industry and its customers grow and prosper. That focus on applications has been the central theme of its work since the Center was founded in 1985. Today, CTM is recognized as having the highest-quality executive education programs for middle and upper-middle management, where these lessons are presented by the best minds in the industry. Before joining Kyocera Wireless in 2002, Whalen served as senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing for Signalsoft/Openwave. Prior to Signalsoft, he was the senior vice president of global sales and services at Wireless Knowledge Inc. Whalen also has held executive management positions at Sony Wireless Telecommunications Company, Phillips Consumer Communications, JRC International, Los Angeles Cellular Telephone Company and Harris Corporation.

Whalen earned his bachelor of arts degree in sociology at Ithaca College, and, while serving in the U.S. Army, completed coursework toward a master's of business administration degree at Boston University's campus in Munich, Germany. He is a member of the board of advisors for Packet Video, a leading San Diego-based wireless technology startup, and participates in several other corporate and charity advisory roles.

Morley Winograd, a clinical associate professor of management and organization at USC's Marshall School of Business, and executive director of CTM, is an internationally recognized authority on the impact of technology on life and work. Prior to joining CTM, he served as Vice President Gore's Senior Policy Advisor in the National Partnership for Reinventing Government.
